An overland expedition through the western half of New Brunswick, traveling through vast landscapes from the lowlands in the south to the highlands of the Appalachian Mountain range in the North. The journey ends at Mount Carleton Provincial Park, the maritime's highest peak, rising to 820m (2690ft) in elevation, here an extensive network of hiking trails is available and offers you the opportunity to see over a 100 different bird species, as well as over 30 different types of mammals. This route is not for the novice and can be technically challenging in spots and makes this a true adventure.

You can reach the trailhead from several directions, depending where you are coming from. From the city of Fredericton head east on Rte 105 until you reach Gilks Rd. From there turn left onto the NB Trail. From the town of Burton NB, cross the Burton Bridge to Maugerville. Head west on Rte 105 until you reach Gilks Rd. The NB Trail intersects with Gilks Rd. Head left down the NB Trail approx. 200 m until you reach a more open area that will allow a group of vehicles to pull over and air down, while allowing any other ATVs or vehicles to pass.
Access to Acadian Timberlands requires the purchase of an access pass for day 2 and potentially day 3 depending on your progress. The cost of this is $11 / day / person and it can be purchased at NB Liquor in Plaster Rock (Waypoint 37).
