High Mtn

High Mountain Road follows a former logging and forest access route. The drive is easy and typically suitable for high clearance 2WD, with a packed dirt and rock surface, small dips and ruts, and grades that hold good traction despite occasional steep sections. It works well as a scenic out and back through conifer and aspen stands, with a payoff view at the high point before descending back to the start.

Dispersed camping is available at a single spot near the top of the road, and it can be uncomfortable given the lack of shade or privacy. The area can hold three to four rigs, but only if a trailer is able to make the climb up.
