Branching off Jacks Canyon, Periscope Canyon is a short, out-and-back sandy two-track leading to a unique camping and hiking area. Slot-canyon hiking and exploring in the area are worth the effort to set up camp at the end of this sandy trail. You will navigate a couple of small rock ledges, but to reach the end, you must drop into and out of steep sandy washes. The trail is very narrow, guaranteeing pinstripe scratches to reach the open camping at the end. The camping area is a leveled sand area, with room for several vehicles and tents.
