The signs at the trailhead say Dead End and No Camping for a 1/2 mile. What they don't say is that at the end of the 0.7-mile trail is a single campsite with amazing views all to itself. The entire route is hard pack and soft sand right-up to the end where the legal path ends at a sandstone slab overlook with a campsite tucked off to the side. It's worth poking your nose in here to see if it's open; you won't regret it. In dry conditions, it's passable in high-clearance 2WD, but the sand can be soft in the summer.
