D1052 is a short but slightly challenging option for accessing the Taylor Canyon area trails. Beginning from the south, it's the last legal trail before Canyonlands National Park. Traveling south to north means you will be traversing the obstacles downhill, making it the easiest direction. You will need a 4x4 low-range vehicle with high clearance, skid plate protection, and durable off-road tires to safely navigate the entire trail. There are loose dirt hills with 8-12" rock ledges and a deep, off-camber washout that requires a traction aid of some sort. You can easily tip into the deep trench with an improper line. Camping is not permitted along this trail, but excellent camping can be found along the nearby Rough Canyon Rim.
