Recent Trip Reports

Mount Baldy 01-14-2018

Wow! I don't believe we made it all the way to the top in January. We began out trip just to see how far we could safely get, no anticipating finishing the trail. The snow in the trees above 10k feet is only about 2 inches deep. The last shelf portion of the trail only has the occasional drift in the low spots. No issues to get to the top and the hike up to Stratton Reservoir was clear sailing and about 35 degrees.

Medano Pass 01-04-2018

As of January 1st 2018, Meadow Pass road is officially listed as closed for the season per the National Park Service. https://www.nps.gov/grsa/planyourvisit/medano-pass-road.htm#Current

Rupp Gulch- Rampart Range FS Road 300V 12-14-2017

The ice shelf between Waypoints #1 and #2 has grown to be substantially thick and poses a real challenge to vehicles in this area without their tires chained up. I did not attempt to cross the shelf, it is very slick and off cambered towards the ravine to the north.
