Sydney Basin (08/06/2022)
This one left me shaking in my shoes. Black Bear Pass feels like a five lane highway after this one. 😬 The backside of this trail with the shelf road leaves ZERO room for error. There is barely enough room for a Jeep and it's nearly impossible to navigate the turns without someone spotting on the passenger side. This section is also very off-camber (uncomfortably) leaning toward the drop off. A rain storm had just passed through so it was muddy and I started sliding sideways down the hill at one point. I thought I was dead, but managed to get out of it. Other than the back section, the trail was beautiful and at one point in alpine moraine it felt like we were on a different planet, but I do not recommend going further. Honestly, the shelf section of the trail feels borderline super dangerous. Especially for those who are alone or new... the easy rating is extremely misleading. We also rescued a Subaru that was stuck on the hill going up just before heading down into the Basin. They very easily could have rolled it had we not come up on them and helped navigate them out.
Yankee Hill - The Actual Hill (07/19/2022)
Pretty tight in some places as others have said, but the views were beautiful.
Miners Gulch (07/19/2022)
Ran the trail downhill. The creek was a fun surprise as I had no idea this trail was even back there. Thr creek had water, but not much There were a few bigger rocks to get over so it was fun, but nothing crazy. Some clearance is definitely advisable, lockers aren't necessary.
Iron Chest (07/16/2022)
The boulder field at the beginning was fun. The rocks continually move underneath you so it makes picking lines even more fun! This trail is not for the faint of heart from the start as there is truly only two places to pass the whole way up. But the views were amazing.
Chinns Lake (07/09/2022)
Trail is open all the way with no sign of snow on trail. There were a few more water crossings than normal, but nothing crazy. Trail is bumpy as ever, but always worth it.
