Goethe State Forest is located in central Florida and spans almost 54,000 acres. Exploring Goethe State Forest can be done in many ways, such as hiking, bicycling, horseback, and street-legal vehicles. Goethe State Forest is great for anyone looking to hunt, fish, camp, and watch wildlife. Camp Road is located in northern Goethe State Forest. Camp Road is home to Black Prong Trailhead which has picnic tables, restrooms, large covered buildings, horse hitching stations, and non-potable water. Black Prong Trailhead has almost 40 miles of hiking and horse trails to explore! Despite Black Prong Trailhead being located on Camp Road, camping is not allowed.

Directions to Trailhead

Starting Point: Dunnellon

At the intersection of N Williams St and Cedar St, turn westbound onto Cedar St. Follow Cedar St. for about 5 miles then turn northbound onto FL-336. Follow FL-336 for about 5.5 miles and turn right/north onto County Highway 337. Follow County Highway 337 for almost 12 miles and turn left/west onto County Road 326. In about 2.7 miles turn right/north on a gravel road with a brown sign for Black Prong Road. Follow Black Prong Road for about 2.5 miles and watch for a dirt road on the right/east side. There will be a brown sign identifying Camp Road, turn onto the road and the trailhead starts immediately.
