Trail Information

Highlights

Henry's Lake Overlook is located north of Island Park, Idaho, just off the Continental Divide Road. This trail is just east the Continental Divide that the state lines of Montana and Idaho roughly follow. The view of Henry's Lake will surely be enjoyed by all, and the surrounding mountain ranges are sure to leave you in awe. On a clear day to the south, the Teton Mountains are also visible on the horizon 80 miles away! To the south of this trail are the Centennial Mountains, the highest peak being Mount Jefferson at 10,161 feet. Northwest of here the Targhee Peak stands above the rest at 10,240 feet.

Beautiful skies, cool breeze, green grass, and wildflowers. Break out the chairs and chips and salsa while enjoying the lake views, this spot is great.

We drove up Continental Divide hoping to watch the helicopters and planes working the Goose Fire but found ourselves on the downwind side of the fire. However, it was still a fun drive and nice to sit and look over Henrys Lake for a while.

Beautiful day for a drive. Perfect temps, just enough breeze to keep the bugs away, and clear skies.

This is one of my favorite spots in this area, and every time I come up here I wonder why I waited so long. It's an easier and shorter route to get here from the south but I feel you miss out on some of the views. The pictures certainly don't do this spot justice. This critter was fun to watch too, I think he was just as curious as we were. If you zoom into the lake photo, to the right far out on the horizon you can see the east side of the Teton Range. The three peaks don't show from here but they sure stand out when looking from Raynolds Pass on the Montana/ Idaho border.
