Trail Information

Highlights

Trail 2, 19, and 6 are one of the more fun routes in all of the Citrus WMA. The Citrus Wildlife Management Area (WMA) is one of Florida's state forests, spans almost 50,000 acres, and is located in both Citrus and Hernando Counties. It offers plenty of 4WD and hiking trails. Trail 2, Trail 19, and Trail 6 form a loop back to Trail 13 in Citrus WMA. As the title suggests this route is a combination of trails, and setup for drivers who are looking for a moderate challenge. This is one of the few trails in Citrus WMA that is not for stock vehicles and a trail you won't forget!

By far the best and most engaging trail in Citrus WMA as well as possibly Florida as a whole. Waypoints 4-6 is responsible for most of the excitement. There are hills to climb, off camber areas, and plenty of places to test out your vehicles flex which is rare for this area. Trail is every bit a 3-4 difficulty, but the obstacles looks more intimating than they are. In wet Weather this would be very difficult. Trail was completed in a stock 2023 Tacoma TRD.

Trail 19 seems to be closed to vehicles. I walked down it from Trail 6 and it is quite washed out. The rest of the trails were open and easy.

The trail used to be closed but when I went back in April it was fully opened and a complete blast to drive.

Trail 2, 19, and 6 is in my top 5 trails in Citrus WMA. It is for experienced drivers looking to flex their vehicle's suspension and crawl over obstacles. There are plenty of off-camber angles, sand, mud, and water crossings to drive through.
