Beaver Loon Creek Road is one of the few roads that go thru the remote Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness. This single-track rocky dirt road runs along mountain ridges that afford massive views of neighboring peaks. Pinyon Peak Lookout, one of Idaho's highest roads at 9,900 feet in elevation, is halfway along the trail. This trail can be started by the historic Yankee Fork Gold Dredge at the junction of the Yankee Fork Road and Custer Motorway , or at Cape Horn west of Stanley. Various sites offer dispersed camping by creeks, lakes, peaks, or down in valleys. This trail usually is not accessible until late July. Recommend carrying a chainsaw and recovery gear in case of fallen trees and high snowdrifts blocking the route
