Mabel Lake Forest Service Road is a well-maintained graded dirt road that runs through Crown Land. It’s an easy road where 4X4 is not needed, but be aware it is a very busy, active logging road. When traveling on forest roads in British Columbia, you’ll need a two-way radio to communicate with other vehicles.
Most of the drive is along a thick tree-lined two-lane road; the northern section follows Wap Creek and Wap Lake, which offers a few dispersed campsites along the lake. There is no fee for the Wap campground. There are a couple of other campgrounds along the road; the largest one is Mabel Lake Campground, where there are basic facilities and a $15 charge for the campsites.
