Hurricane Creek is one of the most fun trails in the Pisgah National Forest. While it is primarily rough dirt, several areas are rocky, especially along the creek crossings. There are also muddy sections. One location in particular, if it is wet, requires good ground clearance. As you meander your way through the lush mountain laurel, the route passes an abandoned school bus. As you reach the top, there are also mild off-camber sections. There are a few very nice campsites along this route.
