Basin Butte Road is a beautiful scenic trail just minutes from Stanley that includes a historic fire lookout and an alpine lake at over 8,000 feet in elevation. Basin Butte offers spectacular views of the Sawtooth Mountains, Stanley Lake, and the Valley Creek plains. There are unobstructed views for miles once you reach the historic Basin Butte Lookout. Further along the trail is Hindman Lake, an 8-acre alpine lake with fishing, remote camping, and hiking opportunities. Basin Butte offers beautiful scenery and is ideal for first-time offroaders looking for something more than a flat forest service road.
