Hero: Skyline Drive South
small-sr Icon
Skyline Drive South is 75 miles of epic alpine views and quiet forest solitude. Set atop the Wasatch Plateau, the trail's southern end traverses a mixed conifer and aspen forest in the Fishlake National Forest. Elk and deer can often meander near the plentiful campsites. The northern portion of the trail crosses the Manti-La Sal National Forest. Most of this segment is an alpine environment, with the trail usually above 10,000 feet. Turquoise blue lakes are abundant. The breathtaking views extend hundreds of miles in every direction. While usually an easy drive, the presence of snow or significant rainfall can make the trail completely impassable. Snow lingers late at these elevations. But late summer and early fall trips will leave you with lifelong memories of the majestic beauty found along Skyline Drive South.
