Ford Road (FR440) is an easy gravel road in the De Soto National Forest a few miles east of McHenry, MS. the area is popular for equestrian trail riders. Several loops of the Bigfoot Horse Trail follow along and cross Ford Road. The road winds through a forest of southern Loblolly Pines and Oak hardwoods. Located about 1 mile east of the trailhead, you will find the Bigfoot Horse Trail Primitive Camping area. This grassy camping area has dispersed primitive campsites with tables, campfire rings, horse-hitching posts, and an outhouse. There is no fee for camping.
