Hero: Indian Hot Springs
small-sr Icon

This canyon wilderness drive offers breathtaking vistas of stunning rock formations, steep canyons, and a tranquil river leading to the main attraction, the historic Indian Hot Springs. The hot springs served as a meeting place for indigenous peoples, who traded and relaxed in its waters. Surrounding the area are remnants of past mines that produced the prized Bruneau Jasper.

The canyon's east side is relatively easier but requires a 4x4 vehicle and careful tire placement. Conversely, the west side poses challenges with loose rocks that affect tire traction. Due to narrow passages, vigilance is necessary as the road accommodates only one vehicle at a time.

The hot springs' temperature necessitates alternative soaking methods, such as using bathtubs filled with spring water via irrigation hoses or adjusting river water temperature using buckets. For safety reasons, keeping animals leashed or away from the springs is important. There have been several incidents of both people and animals sustaining serious burns from them. Campsites are plentiful along the river, with a spacious fire pit near the springs for communal gatherings.
